Juggling my way out of a ticket.
Thursday night, I had a long night; I went to school, went to work, then spent a few hours studying at the library. After all that, as I was driving down Donaghey Avenue (around midnight), a UCA Police Officer pulled out behind me.
I've known for a couple weeks that one of my brake lights is no longer functioning, and although I have already bought its replacement bulb, I have not made the time to install it. As soon as I applied my brakes, I knew it was game over. As his lights came on, I calmly pulled my car into a vacant lot.
A second officer joined us soon, and both were very friendly. The officer told me about my brake light and said that another reason he pulled me over was that I was driving pretty slow, and it's common for drunk drivers to drive slow (it's also common for someone to drive slow when they have a brake light out and there's a cop behind them).Although the officer could tell I had not been drinking, I offered to prove my sobriety.
The video was pretty popular on my social media. Three days later, it has been shared on Facebook by over seventy-five people (many of whom I don't even know), and it has over four thousand views. As you may have guessed, I did not get a ticket for my brake light or for driving suspiciously slow. In fact, this is the most pleasant traffic stop I've ever been a part of.
